Marissa McCarthy, MD is double board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Medicine. Dr. McCarthy is Program Director for the University of South Florida (USF) Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Training Program. She is medical provider at USF concussion clinic, and she holds an academic appointment in USF’s department of Neurology, division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as a professor.
Dr. McCarthy has also served as a Medical Director of Polytrauma and
Rehabilitation at one of the nation’s top rehab facilities. Her practice consists of the evaluation and treatment of various adolescent and adult disorders, pain disorders, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, amputations, burns etc. and has been engaged in the formulation of life care plans in collaboration with certified life care planners for individuals affected by catastrophic injury or illness.
Dr. McCarthy earned her medical doctorate at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College and residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She is an invited exam question writer and oral board examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. McCarthy received acupuncture training at the Helms Medical Center and is a certified Battlefield acupuncture instructor.

Paul Ramos has been a practicing physical therapist since 1994, beginning his career at Baptist Hospital of Miami in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Department. During his tenure at Baptist, he was part of the intensive outpatient brain injury team. Since transitioning from the hospital in 1997, he has worked in private practice, providing care in both outpatient and home health settings.
Mr. Ramos is a board-certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS) and holds multiple certifications, including Functional Capacity Evaluations, RESNA-Certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), and Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC). In 2013, he earned his certification as a Life Care Planner and has since developed Life Care Plans for individuals affected by catastrophic injuries and illnesses.
Throughout his career, Paul has provided care to individuals across the lifespan—from toddlers to centenarians—addressing a wide range of neurological, orthopedic, rheumatologic, and congenital conditions. He has been a dedicated member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for over 30 years and is actively involved with the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) and the International Academy of Life Care Planners (IALCP). He has contributed to the field through publication in the Journal of Life Care Planning and presentations at IARP conferences. In 2023, he was honored with the Fellow designation (FIALCP) by the IALCP.
Paul has also served in various leadership roles, including as Director Emeritus for Assistance to the Elderly, a Miami-based nonprofit serving low-income elderly residents. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors for both the IALCP and the Florida chapter of IARP.

Sarah Pastoriza, DO is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as the subspecialty of Pain Medicine. Dr. Pastoriza specializes in Interventional Pain Management, regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and non-surgical orthopedic treatment strategies with a strong focus on patient-centered functional restoration.
Dr. Pastoriza currently serves as a PM&R Physician and Interventional Pain Physician with Memorial Physician Group, where she evaluates and treats a broad range of pain, spine, musculoskeletal, neurologic, and rehabilitation-related conditions. She previously served as an Associate Program Director and attending physician within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was actively involved in resident education and academic program development.
Dr. Pastoriza completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, followed by a Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She later completed an Interventional Orthopedics Fellowship at the internationally recognized Centeno-Schultz Clinic in Colorado, where she focused on advanced orthobiologics, regenerative medicine, and image-guided interventional procedures.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Pastoriza has contributed extensively to academic research, scholarly publications, presentations, and regenerative medicine initiatives related to orthobiologics, bone marrow concentrate therapies, musculoskeletal medicine, pain management, and rehabilitation. She has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and continues to participate in ongoing research efforts focused on advancing regenerative and interventional treatment approaches.
Dr. Pastoriza is fluent in both English and Spanish and is recognized for her collaborative, patient-focused approach to care, emphasizing functional outcomes, quality of life, and evidence-based treatment strategies for complex pain and rehabilitation conditions.

As the Director of Operations at PMR MedLegal, Alina Ramos is passionate about creating a positive and productive work environment. She is the initial and ongoing point of contact for all medical/legal matters.
With over 25 years experience working in healthcare operations and a degree from the University of Florida, Alina is dedicated to streamlining operations, managing budgets, and ensuring that all team members have the resources they need to succeed. She's known for her strong leadership, collaborative spirit, and commitment to continuous improvement.
